The Chainsmokers #1 in Nielsen’s mid-year EDM chart

Nielsen published its 2016 Music Mid-Year Report early this month. The report adds up the country’s music consumption numbers spanning the first half of the year – and also compares the totals to those accumulated over the same period last year. And topping the Nielson Music’s 2016 mid-year dance/electronic charts are ‘The Chainsmokers’ “Bouquet” album in the Albums category and hit songs ‘Don’t Let Me Down‘ and ‘Roses‘ in the Top Selling Song categories.

The Chainsmokers’ ‘Bouquet’ sold 228,000 units during the first half of 2016, with Major Lazer’s ‘Peace Is The Mission’ selling 185,000 during the same period. The album’s leading singles, “Don’t Let Me Down” and “Roses,” also occupy the first two spots in the Top Selling Songs and Most-Streamed Songs categories. “Don’t Let Down,” which featured vocalist Daya, was sold 1,217,000 times and streamed a whopping 205,025,000 times. “Roses” was sold 830,000 times and streamed 191,038,000 times.

American producers Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall, the duo that forms the EDM group ‘The Chainsmokers’ have been at the top of their game most of 2015-16, but to top the dance/electronic with artists like Major Lazer, Skrillex, DJ Snake, David Guetta, Calvin Harris, goes on to speak of the duo’s rising popularity among the EDM masses.
