Sigala and Ministry Of Sound Sign Worldwide Licensing Deal With Sony

Ministry Of Sound Recordings has signed a deal with Sony Music to license the work of producer EDM upstart Sigala to the world, outside the UK and Australia.

Chart-topping British producer Sigala has racked up up 3 major UK hit singles in just seven months, with over 2 million sales worldwide. With digital streaming figures in excess of 300 million, the artist’s rapid rise has seen him become one of the most successful dance producers of the decade so far. Sigala’s debut single ‘Easy Love’ debuted at No.1 in the UK. His follow-up, ‘Sweet Lovin’, reached the UK Top 5, but was denied a UK No.1 possibly by two Justin Bieber singles. It stayed in the UK Top 20 for 12 weeks and has now gone Gold too. ‘Say You Do’ (feat. Imani and DJ Fresh), debuted at No.5 and has seen him increase his total UK radio plays to almost 200,000. It has just gone Silver in the UK. And his new single ‘Give Me Your Love’, due in June, featuring John Newman and Nile Rodgers, looking set to continue that trend.

Ministry of Sound Recordings A&R Director, Dipesh Parmar, said: “Sigala can be huge in every territory, we spotted his talent very early on and signed him for the world on the basis of one track, he’s as prolific as he is creative – 3 x UK Top 5 hit singles in a row, including a UK #1 and a fourth imminent with ‘Give Me Your Love’ featuring John Newman and Nile Rodgers highlights that. Sony, particularly Wolfgang Boss and Rob Stringer, have been very pro-active in their approach, we now have a strong long term view to make Sigala a global force.”
