Natalia Flores was born on July 25th, 1987 In Tampa, FL, the daughter of missionaries whose religious work brought her to Guatemala shortly after birth, where she resided for the next 18 years of her life. Her mother is American and her father is Guatemalan. There she was Involved with the children’s home her parents and grandmother started, which housed 78 kids. She was also constantly involved in relief projects to villages especially after disasters like Hurricane Mitch and a soup kitchen that is currently feeding 500 homeless people a night. Natalia’s involvement in the arts also began early with ballet classes at age 4, piano lessons at age 7 and her first modelling appearance at age 8.
An active participant in theatre and choir In both high school and at church, Flores decided to pursue her interest in the arts at the collegiate level. She left her country and family behind to follow her dream. In 2005 she was accepted to Azusa Pacific University in California to pursue a degree in theatre. As a member of the A.P.U theatre department Natalia’s credits included “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” “Dracula” the lead in the student produced sitcom “Close Quarters, and Miracle Worker. During this time she also scored her first modelling contract and has since appeared on the runway and in print ads for brands such as Nioxin, Paul Mitchell and Nike with appearances on such shows as ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” She has also since graduated from APU with a BA in Theater.
Natalia’s formal introduction to the music business occurred in 2009 when, following a 6-month program of intense training with renowned vocalists Beverly Cram and Brenda Reinebach, Natalia was Introduced to dance music icon and label owner Rod Carrillo. After hearing Natalia’s work Carrillo signed her to his Carrillo Music/Dance Music Label imprint Immediately and together they began work on her first project. Natalia was featured on Di Dave Matthias’ track ‘Angel On The Dance floor which debuted at #46 on the Billboard Dance Club Play chart and peaked at #23 after an Impressive 7 week run.
Natalia’s first official single as a solo artist entitled “Going Strong” was released on August 17th of 2010 with remixes from on all-star line-up of dance Industry veterans including Scumfrog, Peter Barona, Edson Pride, Dave Matthias, Cody Williams, Rod Carrillo and The Grower. The music video was directed by Eric Calderon and con be found on YouTube with over 15,000 views. Going Strong also debuted on the Billboard Dance Chart and peaked at number 19. Both songs are being played worldwide and have played on online radio stations In the U.S. with a special feature on Fusion Radio Chicago. Thanks to this success Natalia was also a presenter at this year’s
International Dance Music Awards in Miami, FL There she presented the award for best global Di, given to Armin Van Buren.
She will be releasing her full album entitled Azucarena”, which embraces her Latin roots, and her first single from the album entitled “Dumb” debuts May 3rd with a music video to follow shortly. Her album contains 13 tracks all written by Natalia (produced by Rod Carrillo) and includes a track entitled “Azucarena, which Is written and sung In Spanish. She Is gearing up for a live showcase/album release party at the end of June and has scheduled performances throughout the course of the summer. Carrillo Music is also planning on having Natalia release a 5 song EP with all Spanish songs also to be released sometime this summer. Her main goal Is to reach a level of success that allows her to give back to the country that made her the person she is today and reach a large audience with her positive message.
