From his funky, tasty, in-the-pocket playing behind the kit, to his professional marketing/business background, Cameron Tyler is an up-and-comer who has a driving passion for success as a drummer and entrepreneur. He is proud to be endorsing some of the best drum companies on the market today, including DW Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Vic Firth Drumsticks, Protection Racket Cases, Cympad Foam Cymbal Washers, and Black Widow Drum Web.
Cam began his musical career at age 4 playing violin. He then moved to piano at 6, and then to drums at age 10. He participated in his high school jazz band, pep-band, and even got recruited to play snare for another school’s marching band in his senior year of high school.
Cam’s high school band, Johnny Duke and the Aces, opened for B.B. King on three tour dates (February ’07). Directly after high school, Cam completed the two-semester Certificate Program at Drummers Collective in New York City (2007). While attending “the world’s premier rhythm section school”, he studied with greats such as Liberty DeVitto (Billy Joel), Peter Retzlaff, Pat Petrillo (Gloria Gainer, Patti Labelle), Leroy Clouden (Steely Dan, the B-52s), and many others. Cam has also studied privately with some of the most influential drummers on the scene, including Dave Weckl, Peter Erskine, Tony Braunagel, Andy Sanesi, Matt Gordey, Adam Deitch and Gregg Bissonette.
Today, Cam is pursuing a professional career in both music and marketing. He is a recent graduate of Emerson College in Boston, majoring in Marketing Communication with a minor in Business Studies. In August 2010, Cam re-located to Los Angeles, and continues to record and perform regularly with various artists and band projects.
