Biography

Alphabeat is a Danish pop group from Silkeborg, who has signed a contract with the record company Copenhagen Records. Formerly called the Soda Star, but as a German band already had this name, they switched to Alphabeat. They won the 2004 Live Contest DK. In 2005, debut single “Fascination” and the group quickly became a major pop phenomenon in Denmark. Single sequel 10,000 Nights was really established the group on the Danish music scene, and was also the P3 Unavoidable in early 2007. The debut album Alphabeat was published in March of the same year. Here came a lot of attention in other countries, and they signed a contract with EMI in England and settled in London to work with old and new songs for their English debut album, This Is Alphabeat, which was published in June 2008. The singles “Fascination ‘‘10,000 Nights” and “Boyfriend” were all big hits in the UK, and the album went straight into the top ten on the UK album chart. This Is Alphabeat has sold over 125,000 copies, and Alphabeat was in autumn 2008 at a sold-out UK tour.
